I Am Legend (2007)
This is the third movie (that I'm aware of) that's based on the original novel, I Am Legend, by Richard Matheson and published in 1954. I've never read the book, but now that I've seen all 3 movies, I'll be getting it soon.
In this story, a man-made plague has wiped out most of civilization and Robert Neville is the only person left who can create a cure because he's immune to the virus. The other survivors have mutated into vampire-like monstrosities bent on eating anyone who isn't infected.
I've learned one thing from watching the 3 movies. If your name is Robert Neville, you'd better change it because Robert Neville always dies, one way or another. I can't say I enjoyed this movie any more than its predecessors, except for the addition of the dog.
I Am Legend stars Will Smith, Salli Richardson, Alice Braga, a dog named Abby and not enough of anyone else to mention. Here's one of the trailers:

I've not seen the previous movies, so I did like this one. i continue to like whatever Will Smith choses to do. he's in my favorite actors list (which is quite short).
You've never seen "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston? For shame!
No, really, I haven't. BTW, if you like this kind of story, you might like a good read from about the same time - Andre Norton's Star Man's Son.
The Omega Man was a little before my time. I was 10 I think when it was on TV, and my dad didn't want me watching it. I wasn't aware it was based on the same book.
Eventually I will watch the Will Smith version. Getting mixed reviews so far.
Tim, Omega Man was/is a good flick. Charlton Heston makes it good. This particular version of the book, which I haven't read and really want to, doesn't go into enough detail about the leader of the zombies and it's obvious there is one.
Can you believe this?…… I bought the dvd for I am legend, a few months ago, but I still have yet to get around to watching it!
and now I want to go see will smith's latest movie Hancock! lol oh boy!

I don't usually cry watching movies (tough guy that I am) but that dog in the movie made me pretty teary eyed a couple times. I think the relationship between Will Smith and the dog did a lot for the movie.
