Massive Quantities for Christmas
The Coneheads starred in original skits on the Saturday Night Live TV show from 1977 onward. They faded away after Dan Akroyd's departure from the show, but made a reappearance as a movie in 1993. One thing the characters were famous for was eating massive quantities of whatever food they could think of.
Massive Quantities
There are a couple of things that me and President-Elect Barack Obama have in common: We're both in our 40s (I'm a few months older) and we both like to eat eggs for breakfast.
On Christmas Day, I like to eat a very large breakfast. I like to eat massive quantities of eggs, real bacon, pancakes and anything else I can stuff into my big, fat belly (which isn't that big and fat anymore).
Speaking of Dan Akroyd
I actually met Dan Akroyd at Paramount Studios a few years ago (my, how time flies) while stationed at the duty station I retired from. He looked a lot different than he does today (think thinner) although he was balding a bit in the back. It was the pilot episode of "Soul Man", a spinoff from "Home Improvement" that didn't do too well, lasting only 12 episodes before cancellation.
Dan Akroyd is a talented comedian and a versatile actor. Casting him in a role where he can't ham it up or play for satire just doesn't do him justice.
Tomorrow is Christmas Day
Okay, so that makes today Christmas Eve, but Christmas Eve isn't a holiday (though people try to turn it into one too). I will be far away from any computers tomorrow. As much as possible, anyway. After a breakfast of massive proportions, dinnertime will include Christmas spirits that are not apparitions.
If I can find eggnog here in the Philippines and add a dash or two or three of rum to the mix, I'll be all set.
