In 'Chuck', The Nerd Actually Gets The Girl

Yvonne Strahovski Okay, so Chuck hasn't actually gotten the girl yet. CIA agent Sarah Walker is merely his "cover" girlfriend, but the chemistry between the two of them suggests otherwise. Chuck's a nerd, but he's a nerd who's a lot less nerdy than he appears. I'm not quite sure why I enjoy watching the show (it airs on cable in the Philippines, although it's a few episodes behind). Perhaps it's the computer nerd in me that identifies with the character.

The Buy More

The fictional "Buy More" store in the series is a rip-off, I mean knockoff, of similar stores in the US like "Best Buy" and "Circuit City", although it appears the employees don't change as often and they get paid a little bit more.

One of the things that makes the show interesting is because a lot of the props appear to be the real deal. Stores like these don't always have the latest or the best gadgets, but they usually have lot of what you see when you walk in.

The CIA and the NSA

Even with all the gadgets you get to see whenever they show scenes at the "Buy More", the really cool technology is used by Sarah Walker, the CIA agent, and John Casey, the NSA agent. Okay, so I know most of it isn't real. It still looks cool.

The only thing I've found annoying in this show so far is the appearance of "Fulcrum" agents. These are rogue CIA agents and people recruited to work for them. Despite the story lines being pretty good, I don't want to see this turned into a modern version of "Get Smart" with "CONTROL" versus "KAOS". If they pull out something that amounts to being something like the "cone of silence", I won't be watching the show anymore.

Agent Sarah Walker

Yvonne Strahovski is an actress from Australia of Polish descent. You would never know it because she speaks in a typical American accent throughout the show. I'm sure there has been a moment or two, as called for in the script, where she spoke with an Aussie accent or in the Polish language, but I can't remember hearing anything like that. I get too wrapped up in the plot.

Yvonne is probably the main reason I got hooked on the show in the first place. It isn't that great of a show, but she's some serious eye candy for hot, red-blooded American males like me.

Agent John Casey

Adam Baldwin does a great job of playing, for the most part, a hardened and friendless NSA agent named John Casey. Every once in awhile, the human side of Casey is shown and it just makes it that much more amusing.

The character of John Casey looks like someone in the government, whether it be the NSA or your local police station. Adam plays the part to the hilt and it just makes the show that much more enjoyable.

Chuck

Zachary Levi does a decent job of paying the computer nerd known as Chuck Bartowski, but I think the show would still work if he had to be replaced. Well, as long as the replacement actor kind of looked like him. In my humble opinion, the supporting cast is much funnier than he is.

It took me a few episodes to get into this TV series and start to like it. At first, it was just the pseudo-love thing between Chuck and Sarah that interested me, but other characters have developed enough to make them likable too.

Hmmm, sounds like fun, I love anything with funky gadgets and enough chases thrown in.
